Administrator Krissy
How old were you when you began learning to dance?
I grew up dancing from a young age (even spent a few years performing in The Nutcracker) as a child. Throughout the years, I loved jazz, but ballet the most. I always looked up to the dancers on pointe, so to make it that far was a huge accomplishment for the young ballerina in me. All these years later I still have my first pair of pointe shoes and The Nutcracker is a performance I still see somewhere every year!
What do you Love about being an Arts Administrator?
Being an Arts Administrator allows me the best of both worlds. I enjoy the process of coordinating and working with parents and teachers to find just the right class for students and then watching the students and families thrive in the beauty and benefits of music and dance. It often feels like finding the right pieces to a puzzle. Sometimes the pieces fit, sometimes they don’t. It takes time, patience and strategy but once it all fits together it’s an awesome feeling. I love being a part of the Myriad family and community.
Where did your receive your Degree(s)?
I graduated from Chico State University. I studied Communications with an emphasis in Media Arts. Originally I wanted to move to LA to work behind the scenes of TV and movies but life took me a different direction and I landed my first real job in Public Relations in Foster City where I lived for 5 years before relocating to the Sacramento area.
Your Unique Approach to Leadership
Being a leader and someone that people look up to and respect personally and professionally in all facets of my life is something I work hard at everyday. I believe the key to this is always being approachable, kind, helpful and setting a good example. We’re all human, no one is perfect, having empathy and remembering this can go a long way. I aim to create encouraging and respectful dialogue and direction with co-workers and clients. To me it’s simple, be the energy you want to attract.
What do you enjoy about working at Myriad?
What I love most about working at Myriad is the positivity, support and encouragement I receive on a daily basis from my Admin Team, Owners and Directors. I’m so lucky to work with such kind and caring people and be a part of an amazing collection of talented music and dance teachers. We truly have some of the best in the Bay Area and it’s an honor to be a part of their world.
What are your hobbies & Interests?
I love thrifting and refurbishing things. I’m a huge fan of bringing pieces from drab to fab and I’m convinced any room or piece of furniture can be changed simply with a can of paint, the power of paint never ceases to amaze me! I love being creative and trying my hand at DIY projects. Our kids, their sports and our small hobby farm of goats and chickens keep me busy and entertained as well!
