New Twinkle Star Dance Program For Young Dancers!
We’re excited to announce our new dance curriculum for students ages 3 to 5 – the Twinkle Star Dance Program! Below is an excerpt from a recent article describing the benefits of the program (you can read the full article here):
Tiffany’s Dance Academy, one of the leading dance studios in the Tri-Valley, has teamed up with Stanford University’s Mind, Experiences and Learning Lab, led by Dr. Monica Ellwood-Lowe, for an expanded research collaboration.
The partnership builds on Tiffany’s Dance Academy’s existing collaborations with Stanford and the University of Pennsylvania, and will study how structured dance and movement programs support executive function, emotional regulation and resilience in early childhood.
Throughout the study, Tiffany’s Dance Academy and Stanford researchers will analyze data from studio programs and classroom observations to better understand how age-appropriate dance curricula influence children’s cognitive, social and emotional growth.
“Historically, we measure children’s learning through standardized tasks where children sit still and focus narrowly — pen-and-paper tasks, tasks on an iPad, or those that mirror more what we would expect to see in a school environment,” Ellwood-Lowe said.
“But young children are developing all sorts of important skills in a variety of different ways. Dance is an amazing way to study children’s skill learning in a more embodied context: how do they learn to follow instructions, inhibit one movement in favor of another?”
The idea for the study came about in early 2025 when Tiffany Henderson, the dance studio’s founder, was pursuing a master’s degree in positive psychology at the University of Pennsylvania.
