How old were you when you started learning your instrument?

11 years old.

Where did you receive your music degree?

San Francisco State University – BA in Music with an emphasis on composition.

What do you love about teaching?

I love learning about my students musical interests. Every student has a unique taste in music and I love seeing my students find their own identity as an artist.

Your unique approach to teaching:

It’s important to me to show interest in each song and artist a student asks to learn about. I like when my students make their own musical discoveries through their personal interests and experiences.

What do you most enjoy about teaching at Myriad?

I enjoy Myriads investment in both the students and the staff. Myriad has a clear dedication to creating and maintaining a creative environment for young musicians.

Outside of music or dance, what are your hobbies and interests?

In my free time, I like to make rugs and mess around with my old VHS camera. I’m an amateur at these hobbies, but I’ve had a lot of fun making videos and rugs with my friends.

Is there anything else you’d like your students to know about you?

I love music, movies, and pretty much every form of art. I think it’s fun comparing different mediums of expression and using other forms of art to learn about music.
