How old were you when you started learning your instrument?

I was 8 years old when I started to learn guitar and bass.

What do you love about teaching?

It’s really fun when a student gets excited about something finally clicking. It’s great to share that joy.

Where did you receive your undergraduate / graduate degrees?

University of Oregon – Bachelor’s in Jazz Studies and Master’s in Jazz Composition

What is your unique approach to teaching?

I really enjoy finding a balance of giving students materials that they are interested in and also materials that will develop them as musicians. It’s great when you can plant a seed and see it bloom later, and keeping them interested along the way makes it more fun for everyone.

What do you most enjoy about teaching at Myriad?

I really enjoy how much the people at Myriad care about using effective pedagogical practices in lessons.

What are your hobbies?

I like skiing, cooking, and doing occasional computer coding projects.
