What do you Love about Teaching?
I love working with people of any age to help them realize their personal strengths. Above all else, I hope my students gain an appreciation for their own capacity and individuality! It is always a joy to watch this transformation and is often the most rewarding aspect of teaching.
Where did your receive your Degrees in Music / Dance Education
I received a BA in Dance from the University of Washington in addition to completing pre-medicine coursework.
Your Unique Approach to Teaching
As a teacher, I hold technical training in high regard, but instilling tools for self-expression and a love of one’s individuality are my primary goals. My classes merge structure and rigor with expression and research. My curriculum is also informed by my background in health sciences; I encourage proper alignment by providing dancers with somatic and intellectual knowledge of their anatomy.
What do you enjoy about teaching at Myriad?
I love the tight-knit community at Myriad- everyone has something to give and someone to support them.
What are your hobbies & Interests?
I spend as much time as I can outdoors hiking, biking, backpacking, kayaking, and sailing; my favorite places to be are in the mountains or on a river. At home, I spend my free time knitting, reading, conducting cooking experiments, and getting my hands dirty in the garden!
