How old were you when you began learning to play your instrument?
I was 12 when I first started playing Alto Saxophone. The joy of learning inspired me to begin playing other instruments as well. I began teaching myself Flute at 16.

What do you Love about Teaching?
I love being the engine that drives a students passion towards music. I vividly remember my elementary music teacher. As a child, growing up and having a hands-on opportunity with music gave me the drive and motivation I use to become the educator I aspire to be today. I first began “teaching” myself in high school, offering flute lessons to my fellow classmates. I feel in love with the pride that grew in eyes of my students. I began to view my band director in a different light and I knew this was what I wanted to do. Teaching gives me the opportunity to see life through my students eyes, a unique experience I will forever be grateful for.

Your Unique Approach to Teaching
I plan on making a positive impact on my students life each day and even provide individual assistance where necessary. I want the students to become comfortable with me and my teaching styles which will not only make it easier for classroom management it will also allow the students the ability to enjoy the lesson. Hands on learning will be stressed in my classroom. I feel students learn best from doing it on their own after a great model. I love that “Ah-Ha” moment most kids have when they really get it! Laughter is an important part in connecting with my students. I want music to be fun and exciting something they want to do everyday if they could.

What do you enjoy about teaching at Myriad?
Myriad is by far the best place I’ve ever worked hands down! I’ve never felt so supported and I’m proud to be apart of such a professional team. There is a family atmosphere here that makes you feel as welcome as you are at home. I can always depend on the leadership at myriad to help in any situation. That’s Why I love it here!

What are your hobbies & Interests?
I enjoy drawing in my free time. I’m a huge anime fan. I also have a video game collection. Sometimes I like to roller skate or visit the local arcades.
