3 Ways to Learn Guitar Faster

3 Ways to Learn Guitar Faster

There’s no getting around it – learning to play guitar well takes time and dedication. But there are ways to speed up the process! So rather than just aimlessly strumming, here’s three things you can do to learn guitar faster.

Have a Dedicated Practice Space

Setting up a dedicated guitar practice space at home is something we highly recommend doing if you’re able to. This should be a place that’s both comfortable and free of distractions. By keeping all your guitar practice stuff in one place, it makes it easy to “get in the zone” when it’s time for your daily practice sessions. Speaking of…

Practice Daily

You should have a daily practice schedule. The biggest mistake a guitarist can make is not playing regularly enough. Even if you’re only practicing for 10 minutes a day, what matters is consistency! By following a daily practice schedule, you’ll be able to improve steadily regardless of your level of the difficulty of what you’re currently working on learning. As Jimi Hendrix said, “if you stick with it, you’re going to be rewarded.”

Use the Internet as a Resource

There’s lots of Youtube channels – like ours! – with tutorials, and guitarists you can watch and follow along with. You can also use either Youtube or download an app to provide you with a drum beat to play along to! The internet is a great place to find information, tools, and inspiration to help you learn and grow as a guitarist.

Music blogs – like this one! – are also a great resource for ideas and techniques to help you on your journey to guitar mastery. Of course, what helps you learn guitar even faster is having a great teacher! And now that Myriad offers classes virtually as well as in person, guitarists of all ages can learn from the best guitar teachers in the Bay Area! From six years old to ninety six years old, it’s never too early (or too late) to start learning the guitar.
