The piano teachers at the Myriad Music School in San Mateo believe that every child can succeed given the right tools. Success-based piano lessons and purposeful home practice means that our pianists improve daily, LOVE the piano and take ownership of their success! These are the young musicians who take music with them for the rest of their lives, in whatever capacity is right for them. We take the time to listen to the needs of our students, and help them set their goals.

Our school offers piano lessons for students of all ages and abilities from beginners to very advanced students.  We offer every style of piano lessons from classical to jazz and pop.  We have students who want to play just for fun and students who excel with the Certificate of Merit curriculum. Our students earn medals for each level they complete in a well-thought out curriculum that is unique to our school. As we have many teachers on staff we are able to match students with a teacher that works best with their particular age, ability and interest.  We start private piano lessons from age 6 onwards.  Before age 6 we recommend our Piano Team program or our Piano Prep Music for the Young Child curriculum.  Our piano lessons are all private one-on-one instruction and lesson lengths are 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour.  While our piano lessons are all private, parents are more than welcome to sit in on their child’s lessons.

IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT LEARNING MUSIC - IT'S ABOUT BUILDING LIFE SKILLS. We believe that the greatest gift we can give our students is the ability to become their own teachers. We know we are doing our job right when students practice and problem solve on their own, with little prompting from their parents. They look forward to the improvements they see each day.

2 annual Concerts- Intermediate/Advanced levels
Playing Parties - For young beginners and performance shy students

PIano Lesson lengths range from 30 minutes to 1 hour, once a week. 
Students enrolled in the Certificate of Merit Syllabus are required to commit to at least a 45 minute lesson, 
to allow for adequate coverage of required technique, theory and repertory. 

TAKING CARE OF YOUR BODY WHEN YOU PLAY THE PIANO
Unlike most other piano studios, we teach our students know how to avoid common repetitive stress injuries while practicing injury-free Body Balance guidelines are a special feature of piano lessons at the Myriad Music School. This approach combines body work principles prescribed by the Balance Center with techniques from the Taubman Approach. Many pianists following the guidelines prescribed by the Myriad Music School have found relief from discomfort and tension at the piano. The results include increased virtuosity and beautiful tone.
